Our Faith and Mission

Faith

During the entire history of Christianity, the Armenian Church has remained a part of the “One, Holy, Universal and Apostolic Church” of Christ. Armenia and her faith have been inseparable. The Armenian Church arose from underground to become the first state adopted religion.

Armenians, exiled from their ancestral home by persecution and the Genocide of 1915 – 1923, have established communities and built churches wherever they have settled. Today there are more Armenians living in worldwide-diaspora than in the Republic of Armenia.

The Armenian Church along with the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches maintains the holy sites in Jerusalem.

Mission

St. James parish members, the body of the church, live the church’s mission through their time, talents and treasure.

The first mission of St. James Armenian Apostolic Church is to serve the community with spiritual nourishment—preaching the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and proclaiming its message of salvation.
