We Believe

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, the Word was God.

John 1:1

St. James Armenian Apostolic Church-Sacramento welcomes members and visitors to join us in worship and celebration. Our church hosts families from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We are one of the oldest Christian churches in the world dating from 301 AD.

Our Divine Liturgy (Badarak) is celebrated the same across the globe—North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia— and across time.

Join us as we:
  • Preach the Gospel.
  • Teach the Lord’s Commandments
  • Worship God in spirit and truth.
Divine Liturgy

The primary service at St. James is the Sunday Divine Liturgy (Badarak), during which Holy Communion (link to Holy Communion 4.3.2) is offered. The Liturgy service invites
the genuine participation of church members in the living Christ.

Prayers are chanted and sung in classical Armenian. Sermons and group confession are said in Eastern Armenian and English. A guide to the service in Armenian and
English is available in the sanctuary pews.
